Domain of One’s Own is an initiative now adopted at many colleges and universities that provides a space on the web for people to create, share, and learn. Our local Domain of One’s Own (DoOO) is called Berg Builds.
A Berg Builds domain provides a location or an address on the web where others can locate your web space. Within that space students, faculty, and staff can make websites or install applications. Most Berg Builds sites are connected in some way to coursework and research. Many are also web-based portfolios of various kinds.
Students have access to their Berg Builds sites for a full year after graduation. Beyond that year, the process of taking your Berg Builds site with you is simple and inexpensive.
Support is available from Digital Learning staff and Digital Learning Assistants (DLAs), and this support comes in many forms. We offer Monday through Friday drop-in hours during the academic year, as well as in-class sessions, customized workshops, and frequent unstructured events called Domains & Donuts where we basically work on our Berg Builds domains together while eating really tasty donuts.
